A new prototype of a heavy armored personnel carrier (APC) has been recorded undergoing full-scale tests in Nizhny Tagil, in the Urals.

The vehicle is based on the BMO-T flamethrower combat vehicle and the T-72B tank chassis, as per Russian Arms telegram channel.

Notable advancements have been observed in the new APC, particularly in its armor protection. Unlike the already highly protected BMO-T, which has an equivalent resistance of 540 mm against kinetic projectiles without explosive reactive armor (ERA), 650 mm with 4S22 Kontakt-5 ERA, and up to 800 mm with 4S23 Relikt ERA, the new vehicle features an advanced single integral armored hull. This hull includes a developed upper frontal part angled at approximately 73-78 degrees.

The lower frontal part of the hull is also notably larger, contributing to increased internal volume. This allows for the accommodation of 8-10 paratroopers. The vehicle features a rear landing ramp, providing a covered dismount area for the troops.

With a combat weight estimated between 45 and 47.5 tons, the APC is equipped with additional anti-cumulative screens and a high-level separation "visor," enhancing its overall armor protection to levels comparable to the Israeli Namer APC. This enhanced protection ensures that the vehicle can transport assault groups to enemy fortifications while withstanding fire from 25-mm AP M242 BMP M2A2 ODS-SA and a wide range of enemy anti-tank weapons and ATGMs, including AT-4 and Milan-2T.
