Barred from exhibiting military equipment at International Arms Exhibitions such as Farnborough and Paris air show, Russia has lined up three home events - MAKS, ARMY and Maritime Defence Show to market air, land and naval equipment respectively this year.

Star attractions this year include the Su-57 at the MAKS show which has been cleared for export and whose serial production is to begin later this year and the S-400 air defence system at the ARMY-2019 event.

Growing global publicity of Russian equipment used in Syria where Moscow weighed in on the side of the Damascus regime; threat of US sanctions attached to the export of S-400 Air Defence System and a sharp hike in defence exports in the last two years has made Russian retain the number two position after the US among arms exporting countries.

“The Maritime Defence Show, ARMY and MAKS constantly give us the maximum monetization out of all the exhibition events in the world,” said Rosoboronexport’s Director General Alexander Mikheev in a press release.

Visitors to the International Military-Technical Forum “ARMY-2019”, which will be held on June 25-30 will see the Kalashnikov assault rifles of the newest 200th series, new generation special vehicle “Tigr-2”, the “Viking” and “Tor-E2” air defence missile systems, combat vehicle of a squad equipped with the “Gibka-S” MANPADs,  means to counter unmanned aerial systems, as well as new solutions in the area of electronic countermeasures, a Rosoroboronexport release said.

The star attractions promise to be the  S-400 “Triumph”, air defence missile and cannon complex “Pantsir-S1”, anti-tank missile systems of the “Kornet” family, the “Terminator” fire support combat vehicle and many other new products in the area of fire arms and close combat assets.

The International Maritime Defence Show in Saint-Petersburg on July 10-14 will showcase a full-scale specimen of the “Rubezh-ME” coastal missile system, multi-purpose integrated radar system “Zaslon”, air defence missile system “Redut”, different ships of Russian production, including the “Karakurt-E” small missile ship of project 22800E.
