Signing of engine agreement between TUSAS and Motor Sich.

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) signed an agreement with Ukraine’s Motor Sich for 14 engines to power Turkey’s heavy gunship.

The first two engines will be handed over to TUSAS in September 2022. Deliveries will be completed in 2025, TUSAS said in a statement.

“As we promised, we have completed another important and critical phase for our Heavy Class Attack helicopter, which will fly in 2023. We launched the project, which we signed under the leadership of our President of Defense Industries in 2019, with a new contract 2 years later. Hopefully, as TAI, we will make an ambitious entry to 2023 in the 100th year of our Republic,” TUSAŞ General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil said.

First flight of the helicopter is scheduled to take place in 2023. It will have approximately twice the take-off weight of the ATAK helicopter.
