Chinese Navy Teases Carrier-based Stealth Jet, the Rumored 'J-35'

The Chinese People's Liberation Army - Navy (PLA-N) on Tuesday released a teaser video of its upcoming carrier-based stealth jet, the rumoured 'J-35,' a competitor to the American F-35C.
The revelation about the carrier-based stealth jet was made in a PLA-N recruitment video. where a blurry image of what looks like an aircraft with folded wings was shown.
The designation J-35 of the stealth aircraft is not official but various media, Chinese and Western have referred to the upcoming successor to the current carrier based aircraft , J-15 as the 'J-35.'
At Airshow China 2021, Sun Cong, chief designer of the J-15, said at a press conference that the next-generation carrier-based fighter jet would come out later that year. Reports then said that the J-35 is based on China's second stealth fighter jet, the FC-31.
The J-35 may not have the short or vertical take-off and landing (VTOL), like the F-35B but the catapult launch and arrested landing like the F-35C. The PLA-N's third aircraft carrier, the Fujian, is being equipped with electromagnetic aircraft launch system so it is likely that the J-35 will be equipped to take advantage of this feature.
The promotional video, titled "Pursuing Dreams in the Sky Above the Sea," is released as the PLA Navy's annual pilot recruitment procedure started for 2023, the PLA Navy said on Tuesday on its social media account.
"The camera focused on the pilot, so the aircraft was blurred, but observers were able to tell its clear difference from the PLA Navy's current J-15 carrier-based fighter jet. This comparison can be easily drawn because a J-15 could be seen next to this blurred aircraft in the video," Chinese publication, Global Times commented.
Despite the blurred frame, the general aerodynamic design of this aircraft shows that it is a stealth fighter jet, Global Times said quoting Song Zhongping, a Chinese military expert.
