Safran Electronics & Defense has been selected by Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) to supply electro-optical (EO) observation systems and gun fire control systems (GFCS) for the country’s naval fleet.
These systems will be fitted on Singapore’s new Multi Role Combat Vessels (MRCV), Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV), and as part of the modernization of the Formidable-Class Frigates.
The EO observation system will be equipped with high-definition sensors and a multispectral telescope. This system is designed for long-range target identification, offering capabilities for both day and night operations, even in poor visibility conditions. The EO system will enhance the Navy’s ability to detect and identify threats at extended ranges, contributing to improved situational awareness.
The new generation GFCS is a smart Command and Control (C2) system that integrates information from various shipborne sensors to control the ship’s weapon systems, allowing for more efficient and accurate targeting and engagement.
