Babcock has been awarded a four year contract by the UK MoD to provide in-service support for the submarine Communications Electronic Support Measures (CESM) system, Eddystone, operating on Trafalgar class submarines.

Under the contract Babcock will provide post-design services and in-service support for Eddystone and the supporting shore infrastructure. This includes a range of technical services including engineering support, integrated logistics support, obsolescence management, configuration management, helpdesk, stores management, and ensuring fully functional capability on the in-service platforms, it said in a statement.

In delivering these services Babcock will provide flexible, cost-effective, availability-focused support to the highest standards, drawing on its leading expertise and capability in this field and experience from having delivered CESM support on surface ships and submarines for nearly 15 years.

Babcock is also the system design authority for Eddystone, having led the design, integration and installation as prime contractor under a previous competitively won procurement contract.
