The India Army on Monday successfully test-fired 290 km range Brahmos supersonic cruise missile at Pokharan in Rajasthan as part of a user trail.
The missile was launched by a mobile autonomous launcher deployed in full configuration with mobile command post at the ranges.
"The launch was successful and the missile hit the designated target," Defence Spokesperson Col S D Goswami told PTI.
Jointly developed by India and Russia, the Brahmos is capable of carrying a conventional warhead of 300 kg, which can be used against ship and land targets.
India is readying several versions of the missile which includes land attack, anti-ship and submarine-launched versions.
