General Dynamics has won a $32.7 million modification contract to operate and maintain seven large, medium-speed, roll-on / roll-off ships (LMSR) for the Military Sealift Command.

Under the terms of the modification, GD’s subsidiary American Overseas Marine LLC (AMSEA) will provide services including crewing, engineering, maintenance, procurement and provisioning. Initially awarded in 2010, the contract has a potential value of $238 million over seven years.

"AMSEA has successfully operated the vessels in this program for the last nine years and we will continue our superior service for our customer under this new contract," said Thomas Merrell, president of AMSEA.

As a full-service ship operator for more than 28 years, AMSEA provides complete marine operations, engineering and professional services to customers in the government and commercial sectors.
