Exelis has completed the acquisition of Celestech, a privately held technology development and engineering firm, with locations in Chantilly, Virginia and Phoenix, Arizona.

Celestech’s acquisition does not materially impact Exelis financial results for the second quarter of 2014.

Celestech develops tailored technical solutions for government and commercial customers, with specific expertise in advanced signal processing and communications systems. The company provides engineering services and product development for next generation satellite and terrestrial wireless solutions. Celestech’s expertise in the realm of data analytics also supports the Exelis intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and analytics strategic growth platform. Upon completion of the transaction, Celestech will become part of the Electronic Systems division within Exelis.

“The Celestech acquisition enhances our ability to provide fighting forces with freedom of action through secure, seamless data sharing,” said Rich Sorelle, Exelis corporate vice president and president of the Exelis Electronic Systems division. “Leveraging Celestech’s capabilities will help us respond to our customers’ increasing needs for greater data throughput and adaptability while strengthening our strategic growth platforms.”

To ensure the U.S. and its allies can enter and operate in areas of vital strategic interest, such as the Asia Pacific region, the role of command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities is becoming more critical.

“For years, we have developed secure, resilient and agile solutions for our customers’ toughest challenges,” said Sorelle. “With Celestech, we will be well positioned to expand our C4ISR capabilities and help our customers address increasingly sophisticated threats and adversaries.”

“Celestech’s focus is to transform and deliver technologies that provide new and enhanced capabilities, enabling our clients to retain a position of information and communications dominance in the face of increasingly complex operating environments,” said Tell Gates, chief executive officer of Celestech. “Our acquisition by Exelis and the integration into their Electronic Systems division significantly expands our engineering team’s ability to deliver advanced technology solutions that improve our Nation’s ability to rapidly detect, classify, and deliver actionable intelligence to forces across their theaters of operation. Celestech’s team is looking forward to continuing our research and development successes as a part of the Exelis team.”
