Brit Army Gets Armor Tank With Invisible Forcefield
British army gets armored tank protected with an invisible forcefield, Scout - laser-controlled warning system.
The Scout produces a forcefield that spots the electronic signature of any incoming missiles and it then fires off a cloud of metal chaff which blinds rockets and makes them miss their target, the Daily Star reported.
The 40-ton mini-tank is capable of carrying a crew of eight and is fitted with electronic counter measures as those used in jet fighters.
The tank is provided with computer screens for soldiers to monitor the battlefield and advancing forces. The cameras provide a 360 degree panoramic vision of the field.
The new mini-tank is due into service in 2020. Some 500 have been ordered and would cost an approximate 600 million pounds.
