UK Defense And Security Export Increased By 13% in 2013

UK achieved defense export sales of £9.8 billion in 2013 (up 11.4% on 2012); it had achieved defense exports of £8.8 billion in 2012, as per UK Trade and Investment Defense and Security Organization report.

UK defense and security exports in 2013 totaled £13 billion. The UK achieved security exports of £3.2 billion (up 18% on 2012). The combined figure represents a 13% increase on the previous year.

The UK's markets in 2013 were the Middle East, the USA, Norway and Republic of Korea. Major defense exports for the UK in 2013 were AgustaWestland Helicopters to Norway and Republic of Korea, plus on‐going business in the Middle East. Defense exports to the US also remained strong with around £1billion of business in 2013.

In 2013, the UK posted growth in exports of products and services, winning £13Bn of new defense and security business (compared to £11.5bn in 2012).The report estimates UK’s share of the global defense export market to be worth 22% (£9.8Bn) approximately, the UK share of the global security market to be worth more than 4%, (£3.2Bn).
