Czech Defense ministry has signed a $12 million deal for the sale of 13 subsonic L-159 combat jets to Draken in the US.

Draken placed a bid last November to buy 14 of the L-159 planes with an option for 14 more.

As per the deal signed Monday, Aero Vodochody, Czech plane maker will resell subsonic planes to Draken after buying them back from the Czech military, Associated Press reported.

The light combat aircrafts were of no use to the Czech since its inclusion in 1999 and 2003. They were desperately trying to sell them since 2004. Czech is also negotiating sale of some planes of the 36 surplus they have to Iraq. The planes are intended for training.
