Krauss-Maffei Wegmann has won a contract to deliver the new Norwegian Combined Combat Simulator and will provide Integrated Logistic Support for the system on site for the duration of 5 years with options for 10 more years.
KMW will deliver four simulator cabins by 2017, specially designed for the New Armored Infantry Fighting Vehicle CV90 and the same number for the Main Battle Tank Leopard 2 A4NO. All are equipped with an integrated 360° out-of-hatch projection system for the commander.
The Leopard cabins come with an additional mechanical weapon simulator for the main gun. The simulator cabins are linked by a Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS)/High Level Architecture (HLA) network for training of joint operations. Eight additional multi-purpose-simulators which can adopt different roles during the simulation enable the Norwegian Army to control combat groups, complete vehicle crews or other simulated entities with man-in-the-loop simulation. The HLA network also guarantees extension with other HLA compatible simulators.
