India To Test-Fire Nirbhay Sub Sonic Cruise Missile On October 17
'Nirbhay' Cruise Missile To Be Test-Fired On Friday Oct 17

India will test fire it’s indigenously developed sub-sonic long range cruise missile 'Nirbhay' from the Integrated Test Range from Balasore missile testing facility as scheduled on October 17, local media reported.

“There is no major damage to its missile testing facility due to the recent cyclonic storm Hudhud and the test will go on as planned,” an unnamed Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO) official was quoted as saying in the reports.

“This would be the second fire-trail of the missile. The earlier flight test was terminated mid-way as unintended deviation from its course was found,” the official said.

“Glitches in the missile's inertial navigation system had been removed. Once launched, the missile flies independently like an aircraft. As it flies low, there is lesser chance of it being detected on radars," the official added.

Nirbhay is an all-weather low-cost long-range cruise missile with stealth and high accuracy and is developed by DRDO.
