Exelis has delivered the 2,000th AN/PLM-4 Radar Signal Simulator (RSS) to the US military.
The AN/PLM-4 is designed to test radar warning receivers on various military aircraft during ground testing by simulating the electronic signals generated by various threats the aircraft could face in a hostile environment.
The 2,000th AN/PLM-4 RSS was provided to the Air Force as part of a task order from a previously awarded indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract.
Exelis recently announced the award of a $6.3 million order from the same IDIQ contract. The AN/PLM-4 has also been delivered to other branches of the U.S. military and International customers over the course of the 2,000 deliveries.
Testing can be conducted on pods, on-board self-protection electronic countermeasures systems, radar warning receiver systems and electronic warfare support measures systems. The self-contained unit is small in size, operates by battery or external AC power and can be carried and operated easily by an individual.
"The continuing delivery of the AN/PLM-4 is a testament to the quality and performance of the RSS and the commitment of Exelis to our military customers," said Jennifer Schoonover, vice president of the ExelisCommunications Solutions business area.
