Saudi Arabia will help strengthen the Lebanese army with the delivery of French armament materials: armored vehicles, armed vessels, combat helicopters, ammunition, and communications equipment worth $3 billion.

Faced with threats in stability, the Lebanese Army must be modernized, equipped and trained to defend the integrity of this state friend of France, French MoD issued a statement today.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia decided last year to involve France in an ambitious program of support to the Lebanese Armed Forces.

Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian welcomes the effective launch of the program. Following the payment of the first installment, the contract has just entered its implementation phase. The first deliveries will take place during the month of April 2015.
