Australian Government today announced the signing of a support contract for maintenance and logistics support services to the gas turbines that power the Royal Australian Navy’s Adelaide and Anzac class frigates.

General Electric (GE) will provide depot level maintenance to the gas turbines that power the frigates, as well as program management and on-site field service support throughout the life of the contract.

Having one service provider will streamline the maintenance process for the gas turbines that power the frigates, increasing contractor responsibility and accountability.

The contract, valued at more than $50 million, is anticipated to last for up to six and a half years, and includes access to a Global Supply Chain, knowledge transfer to ‘up-skill’ RAN personnel and is expected to ensure the retention of Australian and New Zealand suppliers.

The Government is pleased that Defence continue to work closely with industry partners to provide the most cost-effective and efficient use of Commonwealth funding to sustain our maritime fleet.
