The US state department has approved $500 million sale of numerous ammunition types including a million High Explosive Dual Purpose rounds to Saudi Arabia.

The list of items requested by Saudi Arabia include, 7.62mm to .50 caliber rounds, M67 hand grenades, 2.75 rockets, M18A/M18A1 Claymore mines, M1A2 Bangalore Torpedoes, Guided Precision Aerial Delivery Systems and a million M430A1 40mm High Explosive Dual Purpose rounds.

Saudi Arabia has requested for the consignment to replenish the depleted supplies from its ongoing military campaign in Yemen, US Defense Security Co-operation Agency (DSCA) said in a statement Wednesday.

“The proposed sale will resupply the Royal Saudi Land Forces (RSLF) with the munitions it needs to continue to protect Saudi Arabia’s southern border from ongoing attacks by hostile Houthi militia and Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula forces,” DSCA said.
