Boeing Wins $1.49 Billion P-8A Surveillance Aircraft Contract

Boeing has won $1.49 billion contract from the US Navy to build 13 P-8A maritime surveillance aircraft, and provide parts for 20 other same type aircraft.

Nine planes were being built for the US Navy, while the others four were designed for the Royal Australian Air Force. The planes and parts are due to be delivered by December 2018, the Pentagon announced today.

The contract also includes funding for titanium as well as other parts needed for the manufacture of 16 P-8A aircraft for the US Navy and four more Australian planes.

During the contract awarding time, an approximate amount of $1.06 billion from the Navy for procurement is obligated under its fiscal 2015 program. Another amount of $2.4 million is obligated from cooperative partner funds.
