Selex ES has won a contract to deliver electronic warfare equipment for eight Lynx Mk21A aircraft used by the Brazilian Navy.

Under the contract, which was received from prime contractor AgustaWestland, Selex will be responsible for the supply of Sage electronic support measure (ESM), in addition to its defensive aid suite (DAS) controller, and a third-party countermeasure dispensing system.

Selex's electronic warfare system, Sage, is designed for RF intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.

The system is capable of collecting emitter data from RF sources at a tactically significant range and compares them with an emitter library to identify and geo-locate any threats.

It will offer a wideband radar warning capability that is primarily developed for platform protection, while the DAS controller will use this to cue countermeasures.

According to the company, the combination of its solutions will offer the Brazilian Navy's Lynx Mk21As with a flexible and extremely affordable defensive capability.

Selex will provide the system after incorporating it with electronic warfare operational support (EWOS) tools for mission data programming and replay.

This will enable the Brazilian Navy to achieve the ability to independently update the system to recognize new threats as they arrive in theater.

Selex has already delivered this solution for the Republic of Korea's maritime operational helicopter (MOH) program, the Indonesian Air Force's CN-235 maritime patrol aircraft and the UK Ministry of Defense.
