Pratt and Whitney has won a $250 million contract from US Naval Air Systems Command to provide spare parts for the F135 engine that powers F-35 joint strike fighter.
As per the contract, Pratt & Whitey will provide initial spares including engines, modules, and parts to support Lot 9 low-rate initial production of the F135 engine for the global spares pool for the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and international partners in the F-35 program, US department of defense said in a statement last Friday.
The latest award is an addition, or modification in Pentagon terms, to Pratt’s previous contract for the company’s F135 engines, which exclusively power the planes.
