Russian Helicopters will venture into ultra-light class of helicopter manufacturing soon.
In an interview posted by the company Tuesday, Russian Helicopters CEO, Alexander Mikheev said, “The only segment that “Russian Helicopters” is not represented in at the present moment is the ultra-light class of helicopters. In the near future, Russian Helicopters is going to address this issue and introduce a helicopter in this class to the market.”
In addition, it should be noted that based on the results of the analysis of the global helicopter market, the holding has defined the main directions of further development of the model range, and in the next three years we plan to begin mass production and delivery of Ka-62, Mi-171A2 and Mi-38 helicopters, which have the required export potential.
While other countries have ultra-light helicopters for military applications, Russia does not have one.
“We need to increase the share of Russian light and ultra-light helicopters. We are currently developing a high-speed helicopter,” he said.
