Norway has received delivery of first two of 22 Lockheed Martin’s F-35 fighter jets.

The first batch of F-35s is set to be delivered in 2017, with possible deployments set for 2019. Norway is planning to acquire upto 52 F-35As by 2025.

"The Norweigian acquisition of the F-35 is progressing on schedule. In total we now have ten aircraft in various stages of production, and the price for the two aircraft delviered in 2015 has proven to be in line with our earlier estimates," Norwegian Defense Minister Ms Eriksen Soreide said in a statement.

The F-35 is expected to replace Norway's current fleet of F-16 fighters from the 1980s.
