The Afghan Army defused 148 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and landmines throughout the country within the past four days.
"Engineering teams of Afghan National Army discovered and defused 148 IEDs and landmines across the country over the four days," the defense ministry said in a statement Sunday.
According to Chinese Xinhua news agency, the Taliban militant group has largely been using the home-made IEDs to target the security forces but the lethal weapons also inflict casualties on civilians.
The Taliban has intensified attacks as the Afghan security forces assumed the full security responsibilities from NATO-led troops since Jan 1.
