Spirit Aeronautics has developed avionics upgrade to modernize military C-21A aircraft.

"We are excited to present this unique solution to C-21A operators because it not only increases aircraft systems reliability, it meets all of the requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) mandates," Tony Bailey, President & COO, Spirit Aeronautics said in a statement Friday.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for the military that is constantly looking for ways to maintain fleet readiness and provide crews with enhanced safety while extending the life of aging aircraft," said Rick Ochs, Chairman & CEO.

"This solution allows aircrews access to enhanced situational awareness, reduced aircrew workload and increased flight operational capabilities while delivering cost conscious taxpayers the value they deserve. It is a great solution for military and taxpayers alike by providing a cost-effective way to extend the life of the aircraft without the need to source a more expensive replacement aircraft," he said.

The modernization will meet the demands of worldwide flight operations in both military and civil airspace, the company said in a statement.

The C-21A aircraft is the military version of the LearJet 35A business jet. The primary mission of the C-21A is to provide military personnel with high speed, low volume cargo and passenger airlift during normal operations and up to five ambulatory passengers during aeromedical evacuations. It is a multi-role aircraft with a 2,306 mile (3,689.6 kilometers) range and speeds up to 530 miles per hour (MPH).
