The Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Surya Kiran aerobatics team will fly for the first time in five years using its new BAE Systems Hawk 100 aircraft.

Surya Kiran team of four advanced Hawk aircraft will mark their debut at Air Force Station Hindan, near Delhi, when the IAF marks its 83rd day on October 8.

The Hawk based Surya Kirans aerobatics team was caught rehearsing for the Air Force Day today in the skies over Delhi, IAF Spokesperson Sitanshu Kar tweeted.

The Surya Kiran Aerobatic team of the IAF had been disbanded due to shortage of aircraft for the pilot training programme. The team had the comprised of Kiran mark-2 aircraft at that time which has since been removed from service due to technical issues.
