SAIC to Replicate Dog’s Nose in New Sensor

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), San Diego, Calif., was awarded on Sept. 26, 2008, a $17,977,335 firm fixed price contract for model, design and development of a novel sensor inspired by a canines olfactory system. Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif., Kennewick, Wash., Stillwater, Okla., Huntsville, Ala., Durham, N.C., East Lansing, Mich., and Pittsburg, Pa., with an estimated completion date of Dec. 25, 2010. Bids were solicited via the Web and one bid was received. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity (HR0011-07-C-0147).
