Afghanistan Seeks Russian Artillery And Mi-35 Helicopters To Fight Insurgency

Afghanistan has turned to Moscow with a request to supply artillery small arms and Mi-35 helicopters to fight insurgents.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has asked for help from Russia after the US led NATO troops were pulled out of Afghanistan and also cut financial aid to the nation, Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

Moscow will be considering the application. “We will provide some support but it does not mean that every soldier from the Russian Federation would be here in Afghanistan. Why do we have to take on the burden of problems that had not been resolved by the Americans and NATO member countries?” WSJ quoted Russian Ambassador Alexander Mantytsky in Afghanistan as saying.
