The Israel’s military intelligence service has cautioned the nation’s defense forces personnel to be aware of Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) activities and report immediately of any contacts by its operatives.

The memo was addressed to all Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officers and soldiers by the Information Security Department, a counter-intelligence body of the military intelligence. The warning instructs the personnel to be careful of possible recruitment attempts by the Central Intelligence Agency of the US and report any unusual incidences, Israeli Channel 2 reported Sunday.

To illustrate the case, an article from the Hebrew daily Yediot Aharonot was enclosed, in which the reported incidents from the past when Israeli youngsters, who have recently served in IDF, were extensively questioned by American authorities upon arrival in the US. This was believed to be intended at recruiting their services.

“Every security body fears having its confidential information leaked,” a military offical said. However, it is unclear why the warning was being issued now.
