Russian Helicopters will supply 11 Mi-171Sh military transport helicopters by the end of the year to Peru.
A contract on the supply of the Mi-171Sh helicopters was sealed in December 2013. The first batch of four Mi-171Sh military transport helicopters, made by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, was delivered to Peru the following year.
Aside from the helicopters, Peru will receive equipment for a maintenance and repair center, a simulator for training flight crew and other related equipment. Over 400 Russian helicopters are currently being operated in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The most popular models are those of the Mi-8/17 helicopter family, which amount to 320 units.
The Mi-171Sh can be used in a wide range of missions, including the airlifting of military forces, the transportation of cargo, air-to-surface attacks, medical evacuation and search and rescue operations.
