Kalshnikov is eyeing partnering Indian firms to produce weapons in the country.
“Kalashnikov is talks with both public as well as private companies in India. There are no specific names in this regard as we are still in negotiations,” Kalashnikov CEO Alexei Krivoruchko was quoted as saying to PTI by Sputnik Monday.
Although Indian companies had expressed interest in manufacturing Kalashnikov rifles in 2008, talks began only in 2015, Krivoruchko said.
He said that the arms manufacturer expects to produce at least 50,000 rifles a year by sharing its technology with Indian partners. Indian companies must invest some $100 million to launch production in the country, he added.
