Japan Tests Chu-SAM Kai Missile Ten Times
Japanese Chu-SAM Kai missile system

Japan has successfully tested Chu-SAM Kai surface-to-air missile system ten times including an interception of a supersonic target.

Japan tested the missile system at the White Sand Missile Range firing the system ten times. The test also validates US Navy’s 163A Coyote supersonic cruise missile target.

The Japanese MoD on its website states that the development of Chu-SAM(KAI) is aimed at increasing the capability against threats such as cruise missile. By applying advanced sensor and network technologies, Chu-SAM (KAI) increases a defense area against cruise missile, while reduces acquisition cost.

TRDI is developing the XASM-3 high-speed Air-to-Ship Missile. This missile has capability to more effectively defeat enemy combat vessels with high performance anti-air firearms, the website stated.
