US To Craft Defense Digital Service
US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter

The United States is planning to create a defense digital utility for incorporating the nation’s technological community with the military.

"That’s why we’re creating the Defense Digital Service, a new thing, which will bring in talent from America’s technology community for a specific time or a specific project," US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said on Wednesday in a speech at George Washington University.

Carter wants Americans to think that the US Department of Defense as a place where the country’s "top talent comes to work. "The new digital service will be led by technology entrepreneur Chris Lynch," he added.

"Also, to make sure we benefit from innovative entrepreneurs who aren’t technologists, but have advanced skills, we’re going to bring in resident entrepreneurs, who will work with senior leaders on some of our most challenging projects," he added.

The Defense Department will hire a Chief Recruiting Officer who will try to bring in some of the talented business executives in the United States for Pentagon’s top civilian jobs, Carter added.
