Iran Unveils Locally-made Naval Radars

The Iranian Navy on Monday has unveiled new locally-made naval radars.

The systems that were operationalized include sea-based X-band and S-band radars, stationed at a different naval bases in the country.

The main specifications of networking radars in operations areas are tracking and tracing surface targets by 4 X-band and S-band radar systems mounted on Sabalan destroyer on Lark island, integrated processing and displaying information of surface targets and interception of an unlimited number of systems.

Army's Lieutenant Commander Brigadier General Abdolrahim Mousavi visited the Navy’s headquarters on Monday to unveil the naval communication projects through video conference, Tasnim News Agency reported Monday.

Separately, Army Commander Major General Ataollah Salehi and Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari also unveiled a number of developing projects at a Navy construction plant.

The projects involved the manufacturing of S-band radar, hot testing of the engine of a Mark 46 torpedo, as well as projects on the fire-control systems installed on the Peykan-class naval vessels.

Earlier in May Admiral Sayyari said that Iran is presently working on manufacturing a number of new destroyers, including the third generation of the Jamaran destroyer.
