Gory New Year For Saudi Arabia: 47 Executions In a Day
Saudi Arabia executed 47 people including a prominent Shian cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr on various terror acts over a decade.
The ministry statement, published on the official SPA news agency, said the 47 had been convicted of adopting the radical “takfiri” ideology, joining “terrorist organisations” and implementing various “criminal plots”, Local media reported.
The executions are Saudi Arabia’s first in 2016.
And they were convicted of plotting and carrying out attacks against civilians going back as far at an attack on the U.S. consulate in Jeddah in 2004.
