Hanwha Thales is awarded 166.3 billion won ($139.9 million) deal to supply tactical information communication networks to the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), as Seoul seeks to improve its battlefield command and control systems.
The Seoul-based defense contractor will deliver network management, tactical mobile communications and low-capacity trunk radio systems by the end of this year, the company announced Tuesday.
Hanwha and the Agency for Defense Development developed the TICN systems from 2010-15 as part of Seoul’s 5 trillion won initiative project to boost its communication links in future battlefields.
The equipment facilitates rapid and precise command and control and decision-making by integrating various military communication networks and distributing information in real time.
