Afghanistan Receives Four Super Tucano Light Attack Aircraft
Embraer A-29 Super Tucano

The United States has delivered four A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft to the Afghan Air Force.

Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry spokesman Dawlat Waziri told the Pajhwok Afghan News agency on Friday that the jets would help bolster the country’s Air Force. The turboprop aircraft can fire guided rockets.

A-29 Super Tucano, manufactured by Brazilian aerospace company Embraer, is able to carry out advanced training, border surveillance and internal security missions.

In late December 2015, India delivered the first of four planned Mi-25 attack helicopters to the Afghan government as part of their assistance to the country's army as well.
