ATK and FN Herstal SA Announce Cooperative Agreements

MINNEAPOLIS --- Alliant Techsystems and FN Herstal (FNH) of Belgium announced today they have entered into cooperative agreements that strengthen their respective capabilities and proven expertise as designers, developers, producers and suppliers of small caliber weapons, ammunition, ammunition components and tactical accessories.>> These agreements team together the world's largest ammunition manufacturing entity and technology leader with one of the world's leading suppliers of small arms. The agreements allow both companies the ability to provide integrated solutions to military, law enforcement and commercial customers to ensure mission success. The weapon system competency across the two companies is diverse, and will promote credibility, while improving the performance and reliability of future system offerings.>> The first of these agreements resulted in the recent $53.4 million systems contract ATK and FNM, LLC won for the manufacture and delivery of Mk19 Mod-3 Grenade Machine Guns to the U.S. Army Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command, Picatinny Arsenal.>> ATK has also been tasked through the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Detachment to develop 5.56mm and 7.62mm ammunition for U.S. Special Operations for use with rifle platforms to include the SCAR system developed by FN.>>> ATK and FNH USA, LLC have also entered into a distribution agreement covering FN's 5.7 x 28 mm SS 197 commercial ammunition for the U.S. market.>> FN Herstal is part of The Herstal Group that is world-renowned for the quality of its small arms, many of which are used by U.S. and Allied Armed Forces around the world. The Herstal Group designs, manufactures and distributes a full range of firearms for defense, law enforcement, hunting and marksmanship.
