Bell Helicopter has won a foreign military sales contract to provide three Huey II rotary wing aircraft to Lebanon.
“Bell Helicopter Textron Inc., Fort Worth, Texas, was awarded an $18,935,563 modification (0005) to foreign military sales contract W58RGZ-11-G-0011 for the procurement of three UH-1H (Huey II) aircraft in support of the government of Lebanon,” the US Department of Defense announced Tuesday.
Work will be performed in Fort Worth, Texas; and Lebanon, with an estimated completion date of March 14, 2017.
A direct derivative of the combat-proven UH-1H series, Huey II features an Allison T53-L-703 turboshaft engine, a vibration-reduction system, infrared countermeasures and a night-vision-goggle (NVG) compatible cockpit, among other capabilities.
The helicopter is designed to perform a broad spectrum of missions, including troop transport into high altitudes, medical evacuation in hot conditions and VIP transport to and from remote bases.
Lebanon took the first delivery of Huey II aircraft in 2012.
