Indian Navy's P-8I Poseidon Aircraft

The Indian Navy has deployed a P-8I long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft to Seychelles for the first time.

The aircraft was deployed as per the earlier MoU between India and Seychelles. “This is the first time that a P-8I aircraft has been deployed to Seychelles,” Indian Navy spokesperson said Monday.

The aircraft is said to facilitate professional interaction between the aircrew and the Seychelles People’s Defence Force (SPDF). The deployment will also assist in curbing illegal activities and piracy as well as contribute towards security and stability in the Indian Ocean Region.
