Decision On Australian Submarine Construction Site In Weeks
Adelaide ASC

A decision on the $36 billion Australian submarine program construction site is likely within two weeks.

The Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is preparing to reveal the site for construction before the elections are announced, Adelaidenow reported Wednesday.

Adelaide’s ASC is likely to be nominated as the submarine construction site. It is likely the decision will be announced early May as the government reaches final stages of the competitive evaluation process of selecting one of the bidders.

German ThysennKrupp Marine Systems, Japan’s Mitsubishi and French company DCNS are in the running to build 12 conventional submarines. Japan was regarded as a favorite early in the bidding process due to its close military relationship with Australia and the United States.
