US Approves $104 Million Worth AMRAAM Missiles Sale To Four Countries

The US Air Force has awarded Raytheon a foreign military sales contract worth $104 million to produce the Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) for South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Australia and Romania.

“Raytheon Missile Systems, Tucson, Arizona, has been awarded a $104,575,981 cost-plus-incentive-fee contract for the Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) program. Contractor will provide form, fit, function, and refresh of the AMRAAM Guidance Section. This contract involves foreign military sales to Korea, Saudi Arabia, Australia and Romania,” the US Department of Defense announced Monday.

Work will be performed at Tucson, Arizona, and is expected to be complete by Feb. 28, 2017.

The AMRAAM is a versatile and proven weapon with operational flexibility in a wide variety of scenarios, including air-to-air and surface-launch engagements. In the surface launch role, AMRAAM is the baseline weapon on the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS).
