Lockheed Martin Awarded $424 Million US Navy’s MK 48 Torpedo Upgrade Kits Contract

Lockheed Martin has won a $72 million contract to supply MK 48 heavyweight torpedo guidance and control sections and MK 48 common Broadband advanced sonar system upgrade kits to the US Navy.

This contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract up to $424 million at the maximum stepladder quantities, US department of defense said in a statement Tuesday.

The contract also includes test equipment, spares, production support material, engineering support, and hardware repair support.

Work is expected to be completed by December 2019.
