Russian Irkut Rolls Out MC-21 Passenger Jetliner
Irkut Corp Rolls Out MC-21 Airliner in Presence of Russian Prime Minister Dimitry Medvedev

Irkut Corporation of Russia today rolled out it's new generation passenger aircraft, the MC-21 at a glittering ceremony in western Siberian city of Irkutsk.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev unveiled the aircraft in the Irkut Factory.

The MC-21 is scheduled to fly the first time next year end after completing a series of tests and certifications.

The aircraft boasts of certain unique design concepts and technology which it's manufacturers claim provides a 20 percent decrease in operation costs over comparable western aircraft such as the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.

To provide contemporary systems and international quality, Irkut has partnered with well known suppliers in the civil aviation industry such as Pratt and Whitney, Honeywell and Elbit Systems.

Medvedev said the aircraft offers the best combination of economy, speed and comfort and exceeded contemporary aircraft in the world. It would benefit passengers not only in Russia but also in other parts of the world.
