USAF Awards Protected Tactical Service Field Demonstration Contracts Worth $110M

The US Air Force has awarded three separate contracts to Raytheon, L-3 Communication Systems and ViaSat estimated total $110 million for protected tactical service field demonstration (PTSFD).

PTSFD will demonstrate the ability to provide wideband anti-jam communications to tactical users using the Wideband Global Satellite Communications (SATCOM) constellation and commercial SATCOM, the US Department of Defense announced Thursday.

Raytheon has been awarded a $39 million contract, under which the firm will perform work at Marlborough, Massachusetts, and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2020.

Utah-based L-3 Communication Systems is awarded a $38 million cost-plus-incentive-fee contract. Work is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2020.

The third and final contract has been awarded to ViaSat Inc., estimated $33 million. Work will be performed at Carlsbad, California, and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2020.

These awards are the result of a competitive acquisition and five offers were received. Fiscal 2016 research, development, test and evaluation funds in the amount of $11,000,000 are being obligated at the time of award, the statement added.
