US Army Awards $256 Million For Helicopter Turbine Engine Tech Design Review

US Army has awarded two contracts worth $256 million for procurement of a preliminary design review for a new technology center-line improved turbine engine for use on UH-60 Blackhawk and AH-64E Apache helicopters.

Advanced Turbine Engine Co., has been awarded  $154 million contract and General Electric has been awarded $102 million contract by the US Army.

Bids were solicited via the Internet with two received. Work is expected to be completed by Aug. 21, 2018, US department of defense said in a statement Monday.

Fiscal 2016 research, development, test and evaluation funds in the amount of $20,825,111 were obligated at the time of the award.
