EU Top Officials Briefed On European High Response Maritime Task Force

ZEEBRUGGE, Belgium --- The French Navys command and projection ship (CPS) Tonnerre received today ambassadors and representatives from the European Unions political and security committee and the representatives from the EU military committee. The object of this visit was to present, during the French EU presidency, the capabilities of the maritime European amphibious task group.>> One of the highlights of this presentation was the involvement of the guests in a simulated evacuation of nationals from the shore to the ship using all means which could be deployed in such an emergency. The visitors have also been briefed on subjects concerning maritime security and European air naval interoperability.>> Thanks to the strong support provided by the Armed Forces of Belgium the participants involved in this presentation included CPS Tonnerre, the German ASW frigate Bayern, a platoon and vehicles of the French light armoured brigade and a detachment from the French Army 1st Helicopter Regiment.>> -ends->
