Belgium accompanied by Netherlands will purchase four warships and twelve minesweepers for an approximate two billion euros.

Belgium will buy four frigates and twelve minesweepers along with Netherlands. Both the countries will have equal share in the two billion euros buy. Hence Belgium will have two frigates and six mine hunters.

"It's an investment that will last for several decades, and despite our short coastline, our economy disproportionately depends on everything that has to do with the free shipping from ports of Antwerp, Ghent. and Zeebrugge, so we have more ships under the Belgian flag flying over the Netherlands or France, “VRT news defense specialist Jens Franssen was quoted as saying by Belgian news daily, De Redactie as saying Monday.

Belgium would have presided over the purchase of the mine hunters. That's not illogical since the Belgian army it has a lot of expertise and does all the maintenance of the Dutch mine hunters at this time. Netherlands takes the lead for the purchase of the frigates. These are the same ships so crews can in principle be composed of bi-national exactly.
