CAE Designs CAE 300 Series Simulator For Canadian Coast Guard

CAE is developing CAE 300 series helicopter simulator that includes cockpits for Bell 412 and Bell 429 helicopters used by the Canadian Coast guard.

The CAE 3000 Series simulator also features CAE's roll-on or roll-off cockpit design, the company announced today.

CAE has also introduced CAE Medallion-6000XR image generator at the Interservice or Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) event held from November 28.

"Our new CAE Medallion-6000XR will deliver enhanced capabilities for generating highly immersive and realistic synthetic environments, said Marc St. Hilaire, CAE's Chief Technology Officer.

"We are developing our technologies such as the Medallion-6000XR to support and utilize Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) CDB (formerly known as Common Database) standard, which will facilitate interoperability and better enable integrated mission training." the Chief Technology officer said.

The CAE Medallion-6000XR was developed with support for the OGC CDB standard and builds on the performance of CAE's Medallion-6000 family of image generators and visual solutions tailored specifically for the military market.

Another feature of the CAE Medallion-6000XR image generator is that it supports recently approved OGC CDB standard enabling more accurate terrain profile and enhanced local terrain features such as rivers and roads. Further, it also features enhanced overall image quality and scene density capabilities with detailed synthetic environments and realistic night scenes for greater training realism and fidelity.

The image generator's features include Realistic 3D ocean, wakes, and ocean-to-shore simulation with enhanced whitecap and water illumination effects for improved overall visual cueing.  It also includes updated scene densities for runways, taxiways, airport contaminants, aprons and terminal buildings delivering airport realism and support for animated 3D grass and 3D tree effects to further enhance realistic, immersive training.

Lastly, the image generator features enhanced particle-based recirculation and downwash effects for own ship and companion aircraft with ability to modify OGC CDB synthetic environments at run-time to change the terrain dynamically (CAE Dynamic Synthetic Environment).
