New Satellite Imagery Shows Eleven Russian Su-24 Jets Lined Up In Syrian Base

The latest satellite imagery showing eleven Russian Su-24 jets lined up on the Hmeimim Air Base has been appeared on Digital Globe released on January 19.

The pictures which were taken between January 10-19, were released a week after the Russian Ministry of Defense declared that it has withdrawn a flight of Su-24 ground-attack aircrafts from Syria.

All of the photographs show the northern aprons of the air base, while the southern aprons do not have any visible jets, Bellingcat reports. In the western part of the base, additional jets are visible, including additional Su-24 jets.  

According to the report, the identification of these planes is confirmed when compared to a previous Startfor comparison from February 4, 2016. According to the comparison, eight Su-24 aircraft were identified with 4 Su-35s, 6 Su-34s and 5 Su-25s at the Bassel al Assad Air Base.
